2023 marks 30 years since the launch of Britsh Fashion Council NEWGEN, a showcasing support scheme which was established in 1993 to enable a group of designers, including the late Lee Alexander McQueen, to showcase their collections at London Fashion Week.
To celebrate three decades of nurturing future generations of excellence, and to continue raising crucial funds, BFC NEWGEN Alumni designers: Ahluwalia, Christopher Kane, Erdem, Giles Deacon and Roksanda, kindly donated signature prints that have been beautifully reimagined into a limited edition run of keepsakes. The collection of luxury tote bags have been consciously developed and manufactured in India by a majority female workforce, printed using REACH compliant non-toxic inks on sustainably sourced cotton, and all in partnership with Bags of Ethics. A donation from each bag goes directly to the charity which supports the next generation of young designers in the UK through the BFC Foundation.
Each bag design is available in two sizes, the large is £70 and the small is £45. The bags are available to buy now on Online and in selected Case stores in Heathrow Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Ahluwahia The label combines elements from the designer’s dual Indian-Nigerian heritage and London roots. Many Ahluwalia pieces are one of a kind.
Christopher Kane first caught the attention of the fashion world as a student at Central Saint Martins in London. Just six months after his graduation show he introduced his signature label of colourful body-con looks to the world.
Erdem is at heart a storyteller. Collections are formed around a narrative, at a particular place and a moment in time. Erdem’s fashion is dramatic, atmospheric and expressive in the service of emotion: it is not what they wear, but how they feel that matters.
GIles Deacon is a London based couture designer and illustrator mixing fashion, fine art, theatre, and grand scale glamour, known for his expertly crafted pieces using bespoke designed fabrics, prints and intricate embellishments.
Roksanda has evolved an unmistakable woman-centred design aesthetic, creating pieces that reveal a woman’s personality while providing a sense of shelter and refuge through their unique design.
